Addressing the gathering, Dhanush responded to questions about the large fan event and made it clear that this was not a sudden move. “Some people ask why we are gathering like this now. But this isn’t something new. We successfully organised a blood donation camp back in 2019 as well. Is this really a sudden gathering? In 2002, you accepted an ordinary, skinny boy as one among you. You lifted me up, stood by me through every joy and hardship, and have been the guiding lights in my life. No matter who comes or goes or what anyone says, for the last 24 years you have remained the pillars standing beside me. This is not just a crowd. This is my Asuran family,” he said, as reported by Cinema Vikatan. He also praised his fans for spreading positivity, adding, “My fans don’t spread rumours or false information online. They spread love. If people give us love, we return love. Even if they give us hatred, our answer will still be love.”
Dhanush shares touching childhood birthday story
The actor then opened up about his earliest memory of celebrating a birthday, revealing that he did not even know his birth date during his school days. “July 28 is just another day. When I was in school, I saw classmates coming in new clothes and giving chocolates on their birthdays. Until the third or fourth standard, I didn’t even know when my birthday was. I told my sister that I also wanted to wear coloured clothes and celebrate like everyone else. She spoke to my parents and told me that July 28 was my birthday,” Dhanush recalled. He further shared that his sister convinced their parents to buy him a new dress and even spent her own savings to buy chocolates, making that birthday one of the happiest days of his childhood.

Concluding his speech, Dhanush admitted that he gradually lost interest in birthday celebrations as he grew older. But to see thousands of fans celebrate his special day together moved him. “Over the years, I stopped being excited about birthdays. The birthday that I once celebrated alone is now celebrated so grandly by all of you. I don’t know if you are this happy even on your own birthdays. I don’t know what good deed I have done to deserve this love or how I can ever repay it. Apart from saying ‘thank you,’ I don’t know what else I can give you,” he said.
