Quetta Gladiators and Lahore Qalandars (and two other teams) have only one way to get into the playoffs, and that is to seize the fourth place. Both teams have an equal number of points (6), though Quetta have lost one more game. But the margin of error is very thin, and a win could make things a tad easier.
Quetta, though, have a slight edge as they won their previous fixture against Lahore on Friday. However, they would still have a crushing 118-run defeat against Peshawar Zalmi fresh in their mind.
Lahore have been largely unimpressive this season, but against Rawalpindiz they managed to breach the 200-run mark. And that did not seem to be a fluke, Lahore’s openers Fakhar Zaman and Mohammad Farooq have the side a lightning start. If that continues, Lahore could pave a very smooth way for themselves to the playoffs.
Head-to-Head Matches:
Historically, Lahore have had an edge over Quetta, having won 11 out of 22 matches the two teams have faced each other in. With a win in the last game, Quetta now have 10 wins against them.
