On the occasion of International Girlfriends Day, here’s a heartwarming throwback featuring one of Bollywood’s most-loved couples, Rajkummar Rao and Patralekhaa.During an appearance on The Kapil Sharma Show to promote his film with Kriti Sanon, Rajkummar was asked by Kapil whether filmmakers cast him in relationship-centric films by coincidence or because they believe he perfectly fits characters dealing with marital issues.Responding with his trademark humour, Rajkummar said that since he wasn’t married at the time, filmmakers probably wanted him to understand the challenges of marriage in advance and prepare him for what lay ahead.
Rajkummar Rao revealed Patralekha assumed him as Neech admi
The actor also recalled his first meeting with Patralekhaa and revealed that she initially had a completely different impression of him. After watching him in ‘Love Sex Aur Dhokha’, she assumed he was a “neech aadmi” (a despicable person) just like his on-screen character and chose not to speak to him. “Unko laga tha ki yeh aisa hi neech aadmi hai toh mujhse baat nahi kar rahi thi (She was not talking to me because she thought that I was a cheap man, just like my character),” he said. However, once they started talking, she realised he was nothing like the role he had portrayed, and the two gradually fell in love.Rajkummar and Patralekhaa tied the knot in November 2021 after dating for over a decade. ETimes had exclusively broken the news of their wedding, and the couple later embraced parenthood with the birth of their daughter, Parvati Paul Rao, on November 15, 2025.
Rajkummar Rao to bring Ujjwal Nikam and Sourav Ganguly ‘s life on big screen
On the work front, Rajkummar Rao was last seen in ‘Maalik’ and is currently gearing up for the release of ‘Prahaar’, a biographical courtroom drama in which he essays the role of renowned public prosecutor Ujjwal Nikam. The film is based on Nikam’s life and legal career, including his prosecution of Ajmal Kasab, the lone surviving terrorist captured after the 2008 Mumbai attach. Moreover, Rajkummar Rao is also set to bring Sourav Ganguly’s life on big screen with ‘Dada-The Sourav Ganguly story’. The team recently revealed the first look of Rajkummar Rao as Mr. Ganguly.
