Many people think a tie and a draw are the same. They are not. Both are match results, but they happen in different ways.
What Is a Tie?
A tie happens when both teams score the same number of runs after finishing their innings.
Example:
In many ODI and T20 matches, a Super Over is played to decide the winner after a tie.
What Is a Draw?
A draw happens only in Test cricket.
It happens when the match time ends before a team wins. The batting team still has wickets left and the match cannot be finished.
Example:

Team A gives Team B a target of 300 runs.

Team B scores 250 runs and still has wickets left when the final day ends.

The match ends in a draw.
