Conor McGregor declares end of sobriety to support Brad Pitt

McGregor made his decision clear in a social media post after Pitt revealed that his seven-year period without alcohol had ended. The actor told Esquire that he had returned to drinking in a more restrained manner, while acknowledging that keeping it under control has not always been easy.McGregor responded in his familiar playful style, writing, “I have decided to have a few pints of ‘The World’s Creamiest Stout @forgedirishstout in support of my fellow actor, Brad Pitt!”He followed that up with a message directly aimed at Pitt: “Take it easy, Brad!” McGregor also noted that Forged Irish Stout contains 4.2 percent alcohol and described it as a “sociable and friendly delicious beverage,” while encouraging people to enjoy it safely. The exchange took another humorous turn when McGregor posted a video of himself pouring the stout. McGregor’s drinking decision comes during a difficult recovery

The announcement comes at a very different point in McGregor’s career. His long-awaited return against Holloway was supposed to mark his first fight in five years, but the comeback lasted only 69 seconds before a knee injury brought it to an abrupt end. Scans later confirmed torn ACL and meniscus damage.McGregor underwent surgery on August 3 and later described the procedure as having gone “excellent.” He has since shared updates from his recovery, including a video showing his bandaged right knee and marking his fifth day after surgery. The former two-division UFC champion still has one fight remaining on his UFC contract and has spoken about returning during International Fight Week in 2027. A potential third meeting with Holloway is still the part of that picture, although his immediate priority is recovering from another major knee setback.McGregor’s relationship with alcohol has also been part of his public story for years. He previously said he was not much of a drinker before his whiskey business helped change his habits, eventually leading him to announce that he had stopped drinking. Now, while recovering from one of the most significant injuries of his career, McGregor has apparently decided that a few pints are back on the menu. Whether that remains a brief celebration for Pitt or becomes part of a longer return to old habits is something only the former champion can answer.
