There is something terribly wrong with English cricketers as they keep getting into trouble. Fast bowler Brydon Carse is the latest to get into a big mess as it has been reported by the Telegraph that he was handcuffed by the police after a nightclub incident in Derby. Apparently, he was celebrating Durham’s win over Derbyshire in a county championship match in the company of former England captain Ben Stokes at Molly Malone’s Irish Tavern. However, things didn’t escalate like last time when Ben Stokes and Gus Atkinson were involved in a nightclub brawl during the middle of the Test series against New Zealand in June, an incident which went on to play a major role in the international retirement of Stokes.

Carse was released later without any charges. He is part of the Test squad for the first two Tests against Pakistan, although he didn’t play in the first Test at Headingley that ended earlier this week in a massive innings and 103-run victory for the home team. The second Test starts on August 27. Although England are likely to go in with the same XI, just in case some injury happens, will the team be willing to bring in Carse in light of the controversial incident? That’s the question.
“We are aware of an incident which is reported to have taken place in Derby last night, and are currently investigating. We will provide a further update when possible,” a spokesperson for the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) was quoted as saying by the Telegraph on Sunday.
Since Carse didn’t play in the first Test, he was allowed to represent Durham. He took two wickets in the game. Stokes also played in that game and scored two fifties and took seven wickets to provide the star turn as Durham won by a massive 338 runs. Another England and Durham player, Matthew Potts, who took eight wickets in the game, was also seen with Carse and Stokes at the unfortunate incident. There are a couple of videos that are being circulated on social media where Carse can be seen handcuffed by the police, with Potts and Stokes around him.
Carse represents Sunrisers Hyderabad in the Indian Premier League (IPL), however, in the seaon gone by, he was sidelined due to injury. The 31-year-old has played 14 Tests, 30 ODIs and 14 T20Is for the national team.
