VIJAYAWADA: Six people, including five women, were killed and at least 12 others injured after a private bus carrying 42 passengers rammed into a truck in Telangana’s Suryapet district early Wednesday, police said.The accident occurred around 4.30am near Kodad mandal when the bus, travelling from Hyderabad to Eluru in Andhra Pradesh, hit the truck from behind, according to preliminary investigations.A senior police official said six people died in the accident, while the injured were shifted to a hospital for treatment.Police suspect the truck had first hit a road divider before the bus crashed into it.Telangana chief minister A Revanth Reddy expressed condolences over the deaths and conveyed his sympathies to the bereaved families.The chief minister also directed the chief secretary to take necessary steps to ensure advanced medical treatment for those injured in the accident, an official release said.(With agency inputs)
