Swaran Jayanti Ashray Yojana: Himachal scheme offers Rs 1.5 lakh assistance for house construction

Having a house of one’s own can be difficult for families with limited financial resources, particularly when the cost of construction continues to make it harder to turn available land into a permanent home. For eligible residents of Himachal Pradesh, the state government has a scheme aimed at providing financial support for constructing a new house.The Swaran Jayanti Ashray Yojana, launched by the Department of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of Himachal Pradesh, provides financial assistance to eligible beneficiaries belonging to Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST) and Other Backward Classes (OBC), who do not have their own house.Under the scheme, eligible beneficiaries can receive financial assistance of Rs 1,50,000 for the construction of a new house.

Who is eligible for the scheme?

The applicant must fulfil the following conditions:• The applicant should be a permanent resident of Himachal Pradesh.• The applicant should belong to the SC, ST or OBC category.• The applicant’s annual income should not exceed Rs 50,000.• The applicant should not own a house.• The land intended for construction should be in the applicant’s name in the revenue records.

Documents required

Applicants need to submit documents including a Himachali Certificate issued by the executive magistrate, a caste certificate and an annual income certificate.Other required documents include Tatima and Jamabandi of the land on which the house is proposed to be constructed, the Gram Sabha proposal, spot report, No Objection Certificate (NOC), proposal and a photograph of the house verified by the Pradhan.

How to apply?

The application process for the scheme is offline. Interested applicants can download the prescribed application form from the official website and fill in all the mandatory details. Copies of the required documents should also be attached, with self-attestation wherever required.The completed and signed application form, along with the supporting documents, should then be submitted to the concerned district welfare officer or tehsil welfare officer.Applicants should request a receipt or acknowledgement at the time of submission. The receipt should contain details such as the date and time of submission and a unique identification number, if applicable.
