India began their Asia Cup 2026 campaign with a comfortable 94-run win over Thailand in Dubai. Nandni Sharma and Deepti Sharma took three wickets each as India bowled Thailand out for 65. Nannapat Koncharoenkai was the only Thailand batter to offer some resistance. She scored 41 off 48 balls on Sunday.
India made a fast start after being asked to bat first. Shafali Verma led the charge with a 36-ball 64, while Smriti Mandhana hit four boundaries in her 10-ball stay. The pair added 38 runs in three overs. Shafali then continued her attack with debutant Pratika Rawal, helping India reach 65 runs in the powerplay.
Rawal played with more control, while Shafali continued to attack the bowlers. Their partnership crossed 50 before Rawal was bowled by Suleeporn Laomi, who got the ball to stay low after pitching. India then lost wickets quickly, falling from 91 for 1 to 137 for 9 in just 50 balls. Laomi took two more wickets, while Kranti Gaud’s late hitting helped India add 22 runs in the final two overs.
Thailand never looked close to chasing the 160-run target. Gaud dismissed Nattakam Chantam in the opening over, and Sree Charani then took two wickets. Nandni Sharma and Deepti Sharma finished the job with three wickets each. Koncharoenkai’s 41 was the only major score, while Laomi’s 6 was joint second-highest for Thailand.
