Pakistan’s Spin Attack Dominates Thailand Ahead of India Match- IPL

Pakistan Women started their Women’s Asia Cup 2026 campaign with a 35-run win over Thailand in Dubai. The result gave Fatima Sana’s side two points, but the match also showed areas that need improvement before their next Group A game against India.

Pakistan were put under pressure early after losing Shawaal Zulfiqar for 1 and Gull Feroza for a duck. Both batters were dismissed by Thailand pacer Thipatcha Putthawong. Her wickets also took her past Deepti Sharma as the leading wicket-taker in Women’s T20Is.

Muneeba Ali then helped Pakistan recover from 6 for 2. She had two lucky moments during her innings after surviving a miscued pull and a missed caught-and-bowled chance. The opener made full use of those opportunities.

Muneeba finished with 54 from 52 balls, including four fours. She was named Player of the Match. She shared a 54-run fourth-wicket stand with Sadaf Shamas, who scored 20 from 20 deliveries. Thailand kept Pakistan under pressure with regular wickets. Captain Fatima Sana was dismissed for a duck, while Suleeporn Laomi claimed 3 for 14. Putthawong also took three wickets for 18 runs.

Pakistan’s lower order gave the innings an important boost. Umm-e-Hani scored 17 from 15 balls, while Tuba Hassan smashed an unbeaten 12 from four deliveries. Her knock included a six and a four, helping Pakistan take 13 runs from the final over.

Pakistan Spinners Dominate Thailand

Pakistan’s total of 119 for 9 did not look imposing on paper. The slow Dubai surface made batting harder as the match progressed, and Pakistan’s bowlers used those conditions well during the chase. Sadia Iqbal led the bowling attack with 3 for 11 from four overs. She also bowled a maiden. Her two early wickets came in the same over, with Phannita Maya dismissed for 4 and Nannapat Koncharoenkai falling for a duck.

Nashra Sandhu was even tighter with the ball. She conceded only six runs in her four overs and also bowled a maiden. She dismissed Natthakan Chantham for 14. Tuba Hassan took two wickets for 17 runs, including the stumping of Aphisara Suwanchonrathi.

Chanida Sutthiruang was Thailand’s top scorer with 25 from 24 balls. She could not find enough support from the other end. Thailand eventually finished on 84 for 8. Fatima Sana also claimed the wicket of Laomi.

Fielding and India Challenge

Pakistan’s fielding was one concern from the match. They dropped three catches during Thailand’s chase. Those mistakes did not change the result, but similar errors could prove costly against India.

India have already shown their strength in the tournament. They defeated Thailand by 94 runs in their opening match. Shafali Verma scored 64, while Deepti Sharma produced outstanding figures of 3 for 0. Pakistan will face India on September 5 at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. The match will be a much tougher challenge for Fatima Sana’s team.

The win over Thailand gave Pakistan a strong start and highlighted the quality of their spin attack. They now have four days to work on their batting and fielding before meeting India. The next game will require a much more disciplined performance.
