Defending champions Sri Lanka beat Indonesia by 75 runs in their Asia Cup match in Dubai. Nilakshika Silva led the batting effort with a fighting 50 off 35 balls after Sri Lanka slipped to 62 for 6 in the 13th over. Indonesia’s bowlers made scoring difficult on a slow surface, with Sri Lanka managing 124 before being bowled out. Nilakshika formed a crucial 50-run seventh-wicket stand with Kawya Kavindi and struck Sri Lanka’s only six in the penultimate over. Her innings was her third T20I fifty and gave Sri Lanka a defendable total.
Chamari Athapaththu then produced a stunning bowling display, taking a career-best 7 for 5, including a hat-trick. Indonesia made a quick start through Maria Corazon and Rahmawati Pangestuti, who added 16 runs in the first two overs. Sri Lanka’s spinners soon changed the game as Indonesia struggled to score and were bowled out for 49 in the 19th over. Athapaththu dismissed Pangestuti, Corazon and Rada Rani during her first spell and later returned to finish the innings. She completed her hat-trick with the final three balls, helping Sri Lanka secure a convincing 75-run victory.
