Umpires are a very important part of cricket. They make sure the match is played fairly and follows the rules. Different umpires have different jobs during a match.

A match referee is not an umpire, but is an important official in cricket. The match referee mainly looks after player behaviour and the overall conduct of the match. If a player breaks the rules or code of conduct, the referee can take action.
