Mollywood Megastar Mammootty is celebrating his 75th birthday on this day. The veteran actor is marking the occasion at his residence in Chennai. He travelled to the city from Kochi on Sunday with his wife, Sulfath, as reported by Kerala Kaumudi.The special day also brought a major update for Mammootty’s fans. The title and first-look poster of his upcoming film with filmmaker Nithish Sahadev were released at midnight on September 7. The project has been titled ‘Mela’.

The first-look poster of ‘Mela’ presents Mammootty in an intense and rugged avatar. The actor is dressed in a black shirt and black mundu. Mammootty shared the first look through his social media accounts. He introduced the project with a special caption, “Presenting The Title & First Look Poster of Our 9th Production Venture #MELA Directed by Nithish Sahadev.”Mammootty’s mass appearance has also reminded some viewers of his popular character Karikkamuri Shanmughan from the actor’s earlier film ‘Black’.

‘Mela’ adds to Mammootty’s already busy lineup of projects. The actor’s most recent major theatrical release was ‘Patriot’, a Malayalam political action spy thriller that arrived in cinemas on May 1, 2026. Another project in his lineup is a film directed by Khalid Rahman, which is titled ‘Mattancherry Mafia’.The actor is set to reunite with acclaimed filmmaker Adoor Gopalakrishnan for ‘Padayaatra’. Mammootty is also teaming up with Tamil star Dhanush for the upcoming Tamil action thriller ‘Om â Chapter 1’.
