Kuldeep Yadav Takes 10 Wickets for Yorkshire vs Essex, Claims First-Class Career First- IPL

Kuldeep Yadav took 10 wickets for Yorkshire against Essex in a first-class match. It was his first 10-wicket haul in first-class cricket. Kuldeep took 4/70 in Essex’s first innings. He followed that with 6/50 in the second innings. Yorkshire had earlier scored 390 before bowling Essex out for 284. Kuldeep also made a useful contribution with the bat. He scored 36 runs for Yorkshire in the match.

Kuldeep’s Test Record

This kind of performance could boost Kuldeep’s prospects of making it into the regular Indian team for the Test format. He has featured in just 19 Test matches since he made his debut in 2017. Kuldeep has found himself in and out of the Test side of India. Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja have been the preferred spinners of India for several years now. Ashwin has now retired from international cricket. Jadeja is 37, which could give Kuldeep a bigger chance in India’s Test plans.

Competition for India’s Spin Spot

There is also Washington Sundar who is also being considered for India’s Test cricket team. His off-spin provides India with yet another bowling option, while his batting adds balance to the team. Manav Suthar has also started well in his Test cricket career, taking seven wickets on debut against Afghanistan, and ten wickets against Sri Lanka in his second Test match.

Suthar is a left-am spinner who can keep things tight. Kuldeep offers a different option with his wrist-spin and ability to attack batters. Kuldeep’s performance for Yorkshire gives the selectors another reason to look at him for Test cricket. With Ashwin retired and Jadeja nearing the later part of his career, Kuldeep could get a bigger role in India’s Test team.
