The ICC and Cricket South Africa (CSA) are expected to announce the ICC ODI World Cup 2027 schedule on October 1, 2026, at an event in Cape Town. The tournament is scheduled from October 4 to November 21, 2027, with South Africa, Zimbabwe and Namibia as hosts.
South Africa will host 44 matches, while Zimbabwe will stage 10 games. Namibia is set to host at least three matches at the Namibia Cricket Ground in Windhoek.
10 Teams Set for Direct Qualification
The deadline for direct qualification is September 30, 2026. The top eight teams in the ICC ODI rankings and the two host nations will qualify directly. The 10 teams expected to qualify are South Africa, Zimbabwe, India, Australia, New Zealand, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, England, Afghanistan and Bangladesh.
The remaining four World Cup spots will be decided through the ICC Cricket World Cup Qualifier, scheduled from February 22 to March 23, 2027. West Indies and Ireland will have to play in the qualifier and finish among the four successful teams to reach the main tournament.
Boland Park Matches to Be Held Without Fans
The Boland Park of Paarl will conduct the opening matches for the Pro20 Cup with no crowd, as renovations take place at the stadium. Boland will be meeting Knights in this week, followed by the Easterns next week.
According to Cricket Boland and CSA, the improvements are meant to enhance the facilities at the ground. Any matches conducted at Boland Park while these improvements are being done will not form part of the ‘Catch Your Share’ campaign for the Pro20 Cup. According to Cricket Boland, the stadium will be reopened to its supporters after the improvements.
