Ravichandran Ashwin, S Venkataraghavan and K Srikkanth are set to receive a special honour at the M.A. Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai, popularly known as Chepauk. The Tamil Nadu Cricket Association is reportedly planning to name stands after the three former India cricketers.
The honour recognises their contribution to Tamil Nadu cricket and Indian cricket across different generations. All three players represented India at the international level and have a strong connection with Tamil Nadu.
R Ashwin Set for Chepauk Stand Honour
Ravichandran Ashwin is one of India’s most successful Test bowlers. He finished his Test career with 537 wickets, placing him among India’s leading wicket-takers in the format.
Ashwin also shares a strong connection with Chepauk. He represented Tamil Nadu in domestic cricket and has produced several memorable performances at the Chennai venue. A stand named after him would be another major recognition of his contribution to Indian cricket.
S Venkataraghavan to Be Honoured at Chepauk
S Venkataraghavan was one of India’s leading spinners during the 1960s and 1970s. He represented India from 1965 to 1983 and played 57 Tests, taking 156 wickets.
He also captained India in the 1975 and 1979 ODI World Cups. His long international career made him an important figure in Tamil Nadu cricket and Indian cricket.

K Srikkanth to Receive Stand Honour
K Srikkanth was one of India’s attacking opening batters during the 1980s. He represented India from 1981 to 1992 and was part of the Indian team that won the 1983 ODI World Cup.
Srikkanth later continued his involvement in Indian cricket after retirement. He also served as India’s chairman of selectors during the period when India won the 2011 ODI World Cup.
