‘Fill this form ASAP’: CJP seeks details of people detained in Delhi, promises legal aid

NEW DELHI: The CJP on Saturday urged people who were allegedly unlawfully detained during its anti-CEC protest in Delhi to fill out a form to help the party compile information and provide legal assistance to those affected.“If you or someone you know has been unlawfully detained, please fill out this form ASAP!” the CJP tweeted.“CJP is putting together the information needed to support affected volunteers and individuals. Please share this widely. Every case matters, and nobody should have to navigate this alone. We want to ensure those affected get the support and legal aid they require,” the party added.Earlier, the CJP had appealed to its supporters to march towards Jantar Mantar, saying that any place where police stopped them would become their protest site.“We appeal to everyone to march towards Jantar Mantar! If Delhi Police tries to stop you, wherever they stop you will become your Jantar Mantar,” the CJP tweeted alongside a video message from the party’s national organisation in-charge, Ajinkya Shinde.CJP leaders detained ahead of protestCJP leader Abhijeet Dipke, along with co-convenor Saurav Das and leader Ashutosh Ranka, was detained by Delhi Police after arriving in the capital from Mumbai on Saturday.The leaders had travelled to Delhi for the party’s proposed ‘Jantar Mantar 2.0’ protest, demanding Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar’s resignation over alleged irregularities in the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls.Delhi Police had denied permission for the demonstration, citing public safety, traffic management and law-and-order concerns.The CJP has maintained that it will continue its campaign for free and fair elections and seek accountability from the Election Commission over the SIR exercise.
