Brad Pitt’s lawyer brings out new allegations of sexism in the winery case
USA Herald reported that the ‘Heart of the Beast’ actor’s lawyer recently brought out new allegations in his and Jolie’s ongoing legal battle over Château Miraval. During one of the latest hearings for the case at the Los Angeles Superior Court, Pitt’s lawyer, Julia B. Cherlow, requested additional financial documents from Jolie; however, the ‘Maleficent’ actress’s legal aid, Paul D. Murphy, pushed back on the request.During the hearing, he stated, “I have to say this: In my entire career, I’ve never had people ask for more every single time,” to which Cherlow also responded with her own comment, adding, “I have to say, unfortunately, as a female advocate, I get more often than not, ‘Never in my career have I ever seen this.'” Murphy then told Superior Court Judge Ciny Pánuco, who was overseeing the case at the time, that he was “a little disappointed” by Cherlow’s response and did “not appreciate” her comment. No further comments were made regarding the matter during the hearing, nor did the judge take any strict action.
More about Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt’s Château Miraval case
After Jolie sold her interest in Château Miraval to Tenute del Mondo, Pitt filed a case against the actress in 2022, alleging that an existing agreement stated that neither party involved in the winery would sell their interest in the establishment without the other’s consent. Jolie disputed these allegations at the time, stating that such a binding agreement did not exist between the two and that she was well within her rights to sell off her interests in the 1200-acre land. The couple had originally acquired the winery back in 2008 through their own established companies. Over the past few years, Pitt has sought financial records on multiple occasions from the actress; however, she disputed his requests, sharing that any older or personal financial records are private, unnecessary, and not connected to the central contractual question. The star has continued her stance of being under financial distress after separation from Brad Pitt as one of the main reasons. She also rejected the appeal that Pitt’s court had filed earlier this year, requesting documents from 2017 through 2019.
