Pakistan and Sri Lanka will conclude the all-format tour with a two-match Test series, set to begin on November 9 in Rawalpindi. This will be the last Test assignment of the year for both teams. Placed seventh and ninth on the World Test Championship (WTC) points table, Sri Lanka and Pakistan are already out of contention for the WTC Final.
Squad updates ahead of the Test series
Kusal Mendis will lead Sri Lanka, who are likely to have Pathum Nissanka, who missed the ODI Tri-series with a hamstring injury, back in the squad.
Pakistan, meanwhile, have left two spots in their squad unfilled, which they will fill with two pacers after the three-day warm-up game in Islamabad ahead of the series.
Head-to-head record
Pakistan and Sri Lanka have played a total of 59 Test matches against each other. Pakistan have won 23 of these, while Sri Lanka have won 17. Nineteen matches ended in a draw. The last time Sri Lanka won a Test match against Pakistan in away conditions was in 2017. Sri Lanka won the series 2-0 in the UAE, which was Pakistan’s home ground for Tests back then.
