Pathum Nissanka has been ruled out of Sri Lanka’s squad after failing to recover from a left hamstring injury, which previously forced him out of Pakistan’s ODI Tri-series. Nissanka was initially named in the squad, but his availability was subject to fitness.
Lahiru Udara named as Nissanka’s replacement
He underwent wrist surgery in June, and while he recovered from it in time for the England tour last month, he picked up a hamstring injury during the series, adding to his woes. He could not fully recover in time for the ODI Tri-series, forcing Sri Lanka to name a replacement.
In his stead, Lahiru Udara, who also replaced him in the ODI Tri-series squad, has been added. Udara, who returned to the white-ball side against England last month, three years after his debut, has played five Tests and seven T20Is for Sri Lanka. He was also part of the T20I series against Pakistan, scoring a resilient 91-run knock in the opening game.
Pakistan and Sri Lanka set for two-Test series
Pakistan and Sri Lanka will conclude the all-format tour with a two-match Test series, set to begin on November 9 in Rawalpindi. This will be the last Test assignment of the year for both teams. Placed seventh and ninth on the World Test Championship (WTC) points table, Sri Lanka and Pakistan are already out of contention for the WTC Final.
