Tamil Nadu power play: Will VCK join hands with Vijay's TVK? Big decision at 4pm today

CHENNAI: The VCK has delayed its decision on backing actor Vijay’s TVK to form the government, with party chief Thol Thirumavalavan yet to spell out his stand despite mounting political uncertainty. Meanwhile, VCK general secretary D Ravikumar denied reports that the party had been demanding cabinet berths, calling them “contrary to truth.” While Thiruma had earlier indicated that VCK would align with the Left parties, the leadership has held back a formal announcement. The VCK’s two MLAs could prove decisive in Vijay’s bid for power, potentially helping him cross the majority mark of 118 in the 234-member Tamil Nadu assembly. At present, Vijay remains two short despite support from the Congress (5), CPI (2) and CPI(M) (2). “We have spoken to our leader. He will address the media later today. We will communicate by 4 pm,” state treasurer SS Balaji said, addressing reporters who had waited for hours at the party headquarters in Ashok Nagar. Expressing regret over the delay, Balaji said the party had not officially called the media. “A high-level committee meeting will decide on extending support to TVK. Based on that, the final decision will be announced,” he added. Ravikumar took to social media and said, “The reports currently being circulated, claiming that the VCK is seeking various positions and making demands, are entirely contrary to the truth. We have requested the media not to lend credence to such reports.”
