KANPUR: A man allegedly shot dead his mother and younger brother in the Baberu area of Banda on Sunday following a dispute over ancestral property.SP Palash Bansal said Baberu police received information around noon that Rajkishore Mishra had allegedly opened fire on his mother, Shanti Devi, 60, and younger brother Devidin, 35. The victims were rushed to a hospital, where doctors declared them dead.According to officials, Jagdish Mishra of Hardauli Road sold a plot of land behind Baberu tehsil. The buyers started filling it with soil to take possession. Jagdish’s elder son, Rajkishor, then quarreled with his parents and brother over the land’s division.During the altercation, Rajkishor’s wife, Prabha Devi and Jagdish were injured. Rajkishor then returned with his licensed gun and shot Devidin and Shanti Devi, killing both on the spot. Eyewitnesses said he fled the scene while brandishing the gun.Bansal said, “Based on the initial findings and a complaint, a case has been booked against the accused.”The SP said forensic evidence has been collected from the crime scene and four police teams have been formed to arrest the accused.
