Katy Perry hilariously mourns ex Josh Groban’s engagement to Natalie McQueen with ‘The One That Got Away’ song
In a delightful twist, Katy Perry took to TikTok to celebrate her ex-boyfriend Josh Groban’s engagement to Natalie McQueen. Using her classic track ‘The One That Got Away’, a song that fans have long connected to their past romance, Perry created a whimsical video that had her followers buzzing with speculation about their history.

Katy Perry had a playful response after her former boyfriend Josh Groban announced his engagement to British actor Natalie McQueen. The singer shared a TikTok on Monday that appeared to toast the couple while using her 2010 hit ‘The One That Got Away,’ a song long linked to Groban. Perry kept the post short, dramatic and tongue-in-cheek, but the clip quickly drew attention because of the history behind the track. According to The Independent, Perry’s TikTok opened with a screenshot of a news story about Groban’s and McQueen’s engagement. Perry, 41, then appeared in a white bathrobe with an exaggerated sad expression. She poured a bubbly drink into a glass, raised it to the couple, drank it, spilled some on her robe and pretended to cry before leaving the frame.Katy Perry toasts Josh Groban’s engagement in cheeky TikTokKaty Perry toasts Josh Groban’s engagement in cheeky TikTok

Perry captioned the video with one word: “congrats.” The choice of music added the main twist. The clip used ‘The One That Got Away,’ a song fans have often believed Perry wrote about Groban after the two dated briefly in 2009. The ‘Firework’ singer helped fuel that theory in 2017 during a YouTube livestream. At the time, she referred to Groban as “the one that got away,” which surprised the singer and actor.

Groban later spoke about the moment during a 2018 appearance on ‘Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen’. He said he was caught off guard when he heard what Perry had said.“It’s very sweet of her to say that. I’m very flattered by it. But I was very surprised by it, too,” Groban said. He also questioned whether the lyrics truly pointed to him. “I never owned a Mustang. I don’t have a tattoo. Are you sure that’s about me?”Groban also explained why their short romance did not continue. He said they were “both very private” and later realised they worked better as friends. He added, “We’ve been very good friends to this day. She’s the best.”Groban, 45, is now engaged to Natalie McQueen, while Perry’s lighthearted post has brought fresh attention to one of her most discussed songs.
