Chennai Super Kings Hit Hard by Injuries as Jamie Overton Likely Ruled Out- IPL

Chennai Super Kings Hit Hard by Injuries as Jamie Overton Likely Ruled OutChennai Super Kings (CSK) are once again dealing with injury trouble in IPL 2026, and this time it is Jamie Overton who has been affected. The England all-rounder has returned to the United Kingdom after picking up a right thigh injury, creating fresh problems for Chennai ahead of the final stage of the league.

The franchise shared the update on Wednesday and confirmed that Overton will undergo further assessment and treatment in the UK. Although CSK have not officially announced that he is ruled out, it looks very difficult for him to return in time for the remaining matches.

Overton was one of the most important players for Chennai this season. He delivered with both bat and ball and gave balance to the side during a difficult campaign. In 11 matches, the English all-rounder picked up 14 wickets at an average of 17.78 and maintained an economy rate below nine. He also scored useful runs in the lower order at a strike rate close to 160.

His recent performance against Lucknow Super Giants showed how valuable he was for the team. Overton produced a brilliant spell of 3/36 and helped CSK win the match by five wickets at Chepauk. His ability to bowl in different phases and score quick runs made him a key part of Chennai’s plans.

Injuries have troubled CSK throughout IPL 2026. Nathan Ellis missed the season due to a hamstring injury, while Khaleel Ahmed was ruled out with a quadriceps problem. Young batter Ayush Mhatre also suffered a hamstring tear, and Ramakrishna Ghosh fractured his foot during his debut season.

Dewald Brevis missed a few games earlier because of a side strain, while Spencer Johnson has struggled with back issues. Former captain MS Dhoni is also yet to feature this season because of a calf injury.

Even after so many injury setbacks, CSK are still fighting strongly for a playoff spot. Chennai currently sit fifth on the IPL 2026 points table with 12 points from 11 matches. But losing a player like Jamie Overton at such an important stage could make the challenge much tougher for the five-time champions.
