Pakistan began the T20I leg of the series on a winning note, demolishing Zimbabwe by 153 runs. Ayesha Zafar scored her maiden hundred, taking just 47 balls to reach it. Her innings was perfectly complemented by middle-order batters Aliya Riaz and Fatima Sana, both of whom delivered brilliant finishes to Pakistan’s innings with quick cameos. The hosts set a target of 237 for Zimbabwe, their highest-ever total in WT20Is.
The chase never truly began as Zimbabwe lost half their team inside the power play. Both teams will now face each other in the second T20I of the series, set to begin at 7:30 PM at National Stadium, Karachi. Zimbabwe have the chance to bag their first triumph on this tour. So far, including the ODIs, the visitors have had little to write home about. A win in this game would not only give them that but also keep the series alive.
