Hunain, Sufiyan likely to be named in Pakistan’s squad against AustraliaPakistan are expected to soon finalise their squad for the upcoming three-match ODI series against Australia. Several new names, including pacer Hunain Shah and spinner Sufiyan Muqeem, among others, are likely to be part of the squad. Both bowlers had were impressive during the recently concluded Pakistan Super League (PSL).

PCB camp nearing conclusion

Currently, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is holding a training camp for 28 players at the National Cricket Academy (NCA), overseen by head coach Mike Hesson. The squad is expected to be named after the camp ends on May 21.

Babar Azam is also in line to return to the ODI side after missing the series against Bangladesh earlier this year. Additionally, opening batter Fakhar Zaman could also make a comeback during the series.

Selection discussions continue

Among the players set to be excluded are all-rounders Faheem Ashraf and Hussain Talat, both of whom are not part of the ongoing training camp. Additionally, Pakistan’s selection panel is mulling over Mohammad Rizwan’s role in the format as they begin preparations for the 2027 ODI World Cup.

Players involved in the ongoing Test series against Bangladesh are likely to join the remaining squad in Rawalpindi to train ahead of the series. The Australian team will arrive in Pakistan on May 23.

ODI series schedule

The three-match ODI series will begin on May 30 in Rawalpindi, where Australia will play their first ODI in the city since 1994. Following that, the teams will travel to Lahore for the remaining ODIs on June 2 and June 4.
