Pat Cummins to Miss More IPL 2026 Matches, Set to Rejoin SRH by April 17 After Injury Scan
According to ESPNcricinfo, Pat Cummins has gone back to Australia after Sunrisers Hyderabad’s match against Kolkata Knight Riders for one final scan. This test will be checked by Cricket Australia and will decide if his back injury is fully healed and if he can play in Indian Premier League 2026. The report states that Cummins is set to rejoin the SRH squad on April 17, provided he gets clearance from Cricket Australia. Cummins was last seen in action during the Ashes following which he has been on the sidelines due to a lumbar stress. He even missed the T20 World Cup 2026 as well.
In Pat Cummins’ absence, Ishan Kishan has been made the stand-in captain of Sunrisers Hyderabad. As per current reports, Cummins is likely to miss at least three more matches before he can return to play for SRH in the Indian Premier League 2026 season.
Earlier, Cummins had stated that he would feature in the latter half of the IPL and the finals, should SRH reach there, if nothing else goes wrong. Under Kishan’s captaincy, SRH lost their IPL 2026 opener against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) by 6 wickets. However, they bounced back in the next game, as they thrashed KKR by 65 runs.
