Joker returns along with new and reimagined villains

The newly released first-look images pull viewers back into the gritty, retro underbelly of Gotham City. Following the dramatic tease at the end of the debut season, the Clown Prince of Crime is officially making his entry. The preview subtly hints at The Joker’s arrival, showing him obscured by shadows while one of his victims sports that chilling, unmistakable grin.

The upcoming episodes are also set to introduce fresh, reimagined takes on classic Batman villains. Audiences will meet new versions of Edward Nygma, better known as The Riddler, alongside the Scarecrow. Additionally, the Mad Hatter will be joining the rogues’ gallery with a distinct creative twist, the character has been gender-swapped for the series, a stylistic choice that echoes Minnie Driver’s performance as the Penguin in the first season.

The second season is also digging deep into DC Comics history to bring unexpected faces to the screen. Among them is Roxy Rocket, a daring antagonist originally created by animation legends Bruce Timm and Paul Dini for The New Batman Adventures. In an even bigger surprise for comic book purists, the show will feature Carrie Kelley, celebrated as DC’s very first female Robin since her debut in Frank Miller’s seminal graphic novel, The Dark Knight Returns.

Voice cast returns for season two

The sophomore season will officially see the return of Hamish Linklater, who leads the series with his dual performance as Bruce Wayne and Batman. Joining him to navigate the shadows of Gotham once again are Jamie Chung as Harley Quinn, Jason Watkins as Alfred Pennyworth, and Eric Morgan Stuart as Commissioner Jim Gordon.

Krystal Joy Brown is set to reprise her role as Barbara Gordon alongside Michelle C. Bonilla’s Renee Montoya, while Bumper Robinson will return to provide crucial logistical support as the voice of Lucius Fox.

About Batman: Caped Crusader

Stepping back into the shadows of a retro, noir-infused Gotham,Batman: Caped Crusader offers a gritty, hard-boiled reimagining of the iconic vigilante’s earliest days. Born from the ashes of a devastating childhood tragedy, billionaire Bruce Wayne strips away his own humanity to morph into a terrifying creature of the night. This animated psychological thriller follows a raw, unpolished Batman as he wages an isolated, obsessive war against a corrupt city, facing overwhelming odds in a world where the lines between justice and vengeance are dangerously blurred.

The streaming series is brought to life by legendary animation maestro Bruce Timm alongside filmmakers J.J. Abrams and Matt Reeves. The animated project is a collaborative effort between Warner Bros. Animation, DC Studios, Abrams’ Bad Robot Productions, and Reeves’ 6th & Idaho.
