Bharathiraja passes away: Telugu Megstar Chiranjeevi remembers Bharathiraja; says, ‘his films touched millions of hearts

Telugu Megastar Chiranjeevi remembers the late filmmaker Bharathiraja, who passed away earlier this morning on Wednesday. The actor also recalled his time working with the Tamil veteran on the film ‘Aradhana.’

Chiranjeevi remembers Bharathiraja

Chiranjeevi took to his X (formerly Twitter) handle to call it the loss of “one of its greatest storytellers”. Praising him, he also talked about the unique filmmaking of Bharathiraja to project the rural stories with such beauty that it touched millions. “Indian cinema has lost one of its greatest storytellers, #Bharathiraja garu. He transformed the fragrance of village soil, the beauty of human relationships, the innocence of love, and the emotions of ordinary people into timeless cinematic poetry. His films touched millions of hearts and inspired generations of filmmakers,” he wrote.The actor also mentioned Bharathiraja’s illustrious career in which he was honoured with Padma Shri and several National Film Awards.

Chiranjeevi on working Bharathiraja

Later, he recalled his time working with him in the 1987 Telugu romantic musical drama, ‘Aradhana’ which remains their single collaboration.Chiranjeevi’s post reads, “I was fortunate to work under his direction as ’𝓟𝓾𝓵𝓲𝓻𝓪𝓳𝓾’ in 𝓐𝓻𝓪𝓭𝓱𝓪𝓷𝓪. His passion for cinema, simplicity and dedication to his craft left a lasting impression on me. Though he is no longer with us, his legacy will live on forever through his remarkable films. Rest in peace, “Iyakkunar Imayam” Bharathiraja garu. My heartfelt condolences to his family, friends and admirers. Om Shanti.”

Pawan Kalyan shares condolences

Chiranjeevi’s brother, Tollywood star Pawan Kalyan who also serves as the Deputy CM of Andhra Pradesh, also wrote, “The passing of the renowned legendary film director and Padma Shri awardee Shri Bharathiraja garu is an irreplaceable loss to the Indian film industry.” He further added, “Losing such a great creative director is an irreplaceable loss to the Indian film industry. Expressing profound grief over Shri Bharathiraja garu’s passing, I convey my deepest condolences to his family members and fans. Om Shanti. #Bharathiraja.”Bharathiraja passed away at the age of 84 after battling health issues for some time.
