Pakistan pacer Hasan Ali has been named Yorkshire’s player of the month for May 2026 on the back of his impressive outings for the side in the Vitality Blast.
Hasan’s impressive outings
Hasan now has 11 wickets after five Vitality Blast games, which is the most for Yorkshire and fourth-highest overall. His average of 10.36 is better than anyone in the top ten, barring the table-topper Duan Jansen.
His best came in the recent fixture against Leicestershire, where he grabbed four wickets for just 18 runs. In his opening game, the Pakistan pacer channelled his all-rounder side to take Yorkshire home.
He stitched a quick, unbeaten 56-run partnership off just 23 balls with fellow pacer Andrew Tye. The stand got Yorkshire over the line against Derbyshire as they successfully chased a massive 194-run total.
Hasan gets past Bairstow and Moeen
Earlier, he was nominated for the award along with England’s Jonny Bairstow and Moeen Ali. Bairstow kicked off his Vitality Blast campaign with a bang as he notched an unbeaten 83 runs against Nottinghamshire. Besides that, the wicketkeeper batter scored 43 and 73 against Durham and Lancashire respectively. Under his captaincy this season, Yorkshire have won four of their six games.
Moeen Ali, meanwhile, had a terrific debut season with Yorkshire. Switching teams as he left Warwickshire, he was instrumental with both the ball and bat. In all, he scored 86 runs, including a top-score of 51 against Derbyshire. With the ball, Moeen grabbed eight scalps in six games at an average of 12.12.
