HUBBALLI: A youth has filed a complaint with Hubballi rural police station alleging that he was assaulted by suspected Right wing activists for going for lunch with his Hindu girl friend, on Friday.Sharveen Jogul, 22, a resident of Basel Mission compound in Hubballi, has said in his complaint that he had gone for lunch with his girlfriend to a dhaba near Anchatageri, on the outskirts of Hubballi city.Speaking to reporters, he said that a group of about 10 persons, including a woman, came to them and insisted on showing their Aadhaar cards. “As we denied, they suspected me as a Muslim and took me in a vehicle to a shed near Siddharoodha Math. When I said I am a Christian, they assaulted me further. They canned me till evening. Taking my girl friend to some other place by another vehicle, they forcibly took her video bites against me. They have also made some false allegations against me saying I have sexually harassed three women and they have videos of the same. They also threatened me to utter that I have harassed three more girls in the video made by him. They threatened our mother over the phone call to pay Rs 5 lakh to wrap up this incident” he added.He further said, “I have been in a relationship with the woman, with whom I had gone for lunch, for two years. The woman hails from Dharwad and belongs to another community. Even her parents are supportive about it”.Dharwad SP Gunjan Arya, DSP Vinod Muktedar, Rural Inspector Murugesh Channannavar visited the KMC RI Hospital, where Jogul is admitted.Arya told TOI that the incident allegedly took place between 3.30pm to 7pm on Friday. “The youth was admitted to KMC RI Hospital in the night. A case is registered at Hubballi rural police station on Saturday morning. We have arrested two persons in this connection but we can’t reveal their identity at this juncture of time in the interest of law and order. We are in search of other accused persons. The youth said there were about 10 persons” he stated.
