Akanksha Chamola, who announced her separation from her husband Gaurav Khan during the premiere episode of Lock Upp 2, has now opened up about why they decided to part ways. In the latest episode, while talking to Shreya Kalra and Sufi Motiwala, Akanksha spoke about the reason behind her separation with husband Gaurav Khanna.
Akanksha reveals reason behind ending marriage with Gaurav Khanna
Akanksha shared, “When we were in marriage, I never had maternal instincts. But I was open to discovering it. It was never shut down. But gradually I realised I was never meant for it. And he was okay with it. But I guess in time, that shifted. Now, he wants to have kids and then I see that I can’t give him that.”When Shreya asked if she plans to have kids in future, Akanksha replied, “Never. I don’t have those instincts. I told him that long ago, that- When I realised that I can’t, I’m not made for this thing. At that point, I told him that I won’t be doing it. So, we had a discussion where I told him that you can leave me if you want. Fair enough on your part.”The Kaise Mujhe Tum Mil Gayi actress further shared how she understands Gaurav’s point and stated that he is not wrong on his part, she said, “Because this is something that can be a deal breaker. Not just a deal breaker. People marry for this only. Let’s be very honest 99 percent get married because you want to have kids and continue your family line. Why else would you marry? It’s a fact, it’s okay. He’s not wrong on that.”Akanksha revealed that during Bigg Boss, she realised Gaurav strongly wanted to become a father, but she wasn’t ready to have children. She said this difference ultimately led to their separation. “Then, Bigg Boss happened and than I realised that, he probably want it badly and I’m not able to do it. So for me, I don’t want to put him in that situation.”Shreya then asked if she plans to adopt a baby? Akanksha said, “I don’t want a baby. I want to be a child-free for a reason. I want to be free.”
When Akanksha announced her separation from Gaurav
For the uninitiated, during the launch episode of Lock Upp: Sach Ya Sazaa, Akanksha announced her separation from husband Gaurav and also revealed that they have been living apart for the last one year. She said, “Okay, so me and Gaurav are getting a divorce. Yeah, we’ve been separated, living separately for the last one year. It wasn’t public, but that’s my secret.”She also clarified that it was a mutual decision and that there is no bad blood between them, “It was a mutual decision. We’ve been sitting on this for the last one year. Things are not bad between me and Gaurav. We still talk to each other. We both don’t think that we are compatible as partners because we both see very different futures, and unfortunately, it’s not with each other. So, there’s no bad blood between us,” she said.She further spoke about the reason behind not making their separation public earlier, “Our parents thought we were just living separately for a while because sometimes couples need space to sort things out. Since we continued talking to each other, attended events together, supported one another, and shared everything, everyone believed things would work out. But that feeling of being a married couple was no longer there. I think this will be big news even for our families,” she concluded.Akanksha and Gaurav got married in 2016 in a grand wedding ceremony in Kanpur. During Bigg Boss 19, Akanksha visited the BB house for the family week and viewers loved their chemistry.
