‘Ramayana’ is still months away from its release, but producer Namit Malhotra is already building up anticipation for the film’s arrival this Diwali.Malhotra, who is backing the Nitesh Tiwari directorial, starring Ranbir Kapoor, Sai Pallavi and Yash in lead roles, in his latest interview, expressed his confidence that the film will become a landmark moment for Indian cinema. The producer has been opting for a more intimate promotional strategy by hosting screenings for various sections of fans, influencers and online content creators over the past months.In one such interview with a content creator, Namit spoke about the ambitious mythological epic. When asked about the technological innovations showcased in the film and whether there were aspects in the visual effects that audiences might overlook, Malhotra said, “I think there are 2-3 things which I don’t want to say today. I just wish for the audience to see it first. If they do not notice it, then we will be very successful. That’s why, by saying it now, I don’t want to alert anyone.”He was also asked about comparisons with Christopher Nolan‘s upcoming mythological epic ‘The Odyssey’. The film that is a retelling of the Greek epic, has been generating significant global buzz ahead of its July 17 release. When asked whether ‘Ramayana’, with its deeply rooted Indian story, could create a similar level of excitement, Namit said, “I think it’s in our hands as Indians, which path and position we take it, with belief, in front of world.”Speaking about his team’s work on the technical level, he said, “We are doing everything we can from our side. We’re working hard so that we do the best we can. With everyone’s passion or enthusiasm, this will become a moment of pride for every Indian all over the world.”‘Ramayana’ is one of the most ambitious and most expensive Indian films ever made. The film will release as a two-part cinematic adaptation, featuring Ranbir as Lord Ram, Sai as Sita, Yash as Ravana and Sunny Deol as Lord Hanuman. The first instalment is slated for a Diwali 2027 release, while ‘Ramayana: Part 2’ is slated for a Diwali 2028 release.
