Hasan Ali tops wicket-takers charts after dominating performance against LeicestershireHasan Ali is now the leading wicket-taker of the Vitality Blast after he grabbed a four-fer against Leicestershire to take his team, Yorkshire, home and closer to the quarter-finals.

After an incredible Adam Lyth century lifted Yorkshire to a 207-run total, the team seemed in high spirits as they got on to defend the total. Hasan Ali and Andrew Tye joined forces, sharing eight wickets between them. The Pakistan pacer conceded 25 runs in his quota of four overs.

After getting the opener, Stephen Eskinazi, who looked dangerous in the powerplay, Hasan returned to get wicketkeeper batter Ben Cox in the 17th over. Cox, by that time, had built a decent 47 off 34 balls as he led his side to recovery. But Hasan struck gold with the wicket, and Leicestershire failed to recover again. He then bowled a double-wicket maiden to cap his brilliant spell and further bolster Yorkshire’s winning chances.

With 22 wickets this season at an average of 11.18, Hasan is the league’s highest-wicket taker, with fellow Pakistan pacer Mohammad Ali in second with 19 wickets. This was his second four-wicket haul this season, with a previous one, 4/18, coming against Leicestershire as well.
