BHOPAL: A film producer allegedly received death threats from Pakistani phone numbers while staying in Datia, Madhya Pradesh with the caller warning him against releasing his upcoming film Kala Hiran and threatening to blow him up in a bomb attack. Police have registered an FIR and launched an investigation.According to the complaint, the producer had travelled to Datia to offer prayers at the Shri Pitambara Peeth temple and was staying at a private hotel when he began receiving WhatsApp calls, audio and video messages from Pakistani numbers.The complainant, identified as Amit Jani, told police that around 1 am on July 6, he received audio and video clips from a Pakistani number. The following morning, at about 9.47 am, he allegedly received another WhatsApp call from a different Pakistani number. The caller claimed to be an aide of Pakistan-based gangster Shahzad Bhatti and allegedly warned Jani not to release Kala Hiran, threatening to kill him in a bomb attack. The caller also claimed that no security arrangement would be able to protect him.Police suspect the caller mentioned Bhatti, a Pakistan-based social media influencer and controversial figure, has frequently courted attention through provocative online videos and has previously made public statements on issues involving India. However they are yet to verify the identity or authenticity of the caller’s claim. In his complaint, Jani said the person seen in the video was carrying sophisticated weapons and claimed to possess explosives, grenades and rocket-propelled grenades (RPGs).Datia SP Mayur Khandelwal said an FIR has been registered and the matter is under investigation.Jani, a resident of Noida, owns Jani Firefox Media and has produced films based on controversial and real-life subjects, including Udaipur Files, Karachi to Noida and Kala Hiran.
