Veteran actor Rajesh Sharma has been admitted to a private hospital in Kolkata after reportedly suffering a suspected insect bite while shooting for an upcoming film starring Prabhas. The incident is believed to have taken place at Ramoji Film City. Details about the actor’s condition were shared through a joint statement issued by actress Sudipa Chatterjee and filmmaker-producer Agnidev Chatterjee.According to the statement, as reported by The Telegraph India, the incident occurred after filming for the day had wrapped up. Rajesh was reportedly spending time with local technicians in an area surrounded by dense vegetation when he suddenly felt something bite his leg. It is suspected that the bite may have been caused by an insect or a venomous spider. As the injury did not appear serious initially, the actor chose not to seek immediate medical attention and continued with his plans.

Condition reportedly worsened hours later

Several hours after the incident, Rajesh reportedly developed severe pain in his right leg. His condition gradually deteriorated, but he still boarded a flight to Kolkata. During the journey, he reportedly developed a high fever and became increasingly uncomfortable. After landing in Kolkata, he was admitted to a private hospital in the southern part of the city for medical treatment. The statement said the actor is now battling a serious infection in his right leg. He has also reportedly been experiencing high fever and breathing difficulties. According to the update, the infection spread rapidly from his toes to his knee, with large blisters appearing on the affected area.

Doctors continue to monitor his health

Rajesh remains under close medical supervision as doctors continue evaluating his condition. As reported by Telegraph, speaking about the actor’s health, Dr. Avijit Bhattacharya said it is still too early to make any definite assessment regarding his recovery. The medical team is also monitoring him for possible complications. According to the statement, doctors are keeping a close watch for signs of a blood clot, as it could become life-threatening if it reaches the lungs. Necessary investigations and treatment are currently underway. The statement further noted that a detailed medical update will be issued after the hospital completes its assessment and releases an official bulletin.
