Harry Brook, Phil Salt Power England to Series-Sealing Victory Over India

The reigning T20 World Cup champions, India, were outplayed by England, who won the fourth T20I by nine wickets. With this dominant victory, England took an unbeatable 3-0 lead in the five-match series. Skipper Harry Brook and Phil Salt led the batting effort in the 2nd innings after another good display from the bowling attack. India won the toss and elected to bat first but never got going.

Shreyas Iyer top scored with a captain’s knock hitting an unbeaten 80 off 49 deliveries with 4 fours and 5 sixes. Shivam Dube’s 22 was the next top score as India managed to scrape to 158/7. Jofra Archer picked up 2/20, Will Jacks bowled his 4 overs to finish with 1/28, Josh Tongue had 2/36 and Adil Rashid picked up 1/49 with 44 of those runs hit by Iyer. England brought Rehan Ahmed in place of Liam Dawson, but the leggie remained unused as the hosts used only 5 bowlers.

Arshdeep Singh got the early breakthrough for India dismissing Jos Buttler for 8 right after he carted the left armer for a maximum. Phil Salt was joined by Brook at number 3 and the skipper then took command of the position. 8 fours and 4 sixes off Brook’s blade, 9 fours and a six from Salt’s as the duo added 146 runs for the 2nd wicket without any trouble – the highest 2nd wicket stand for England v India in the format.

Prasidh Krishna was the most economic bowler with 0/26 in his 3 overs. Washington Sundar and Shivam Dube bowled an over apiece and leaked 19 and 15 runs respectively. The Salt and Brook duo finishing the game off in the 14th over as England romped home by 9 wickets and 37 balls to left.
