Prince Yadav Replaces Injured Harshit Rana in India's ODI Squad vs England

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has named Prince Yadav as the replacement for Harshit Rana, who has been ruled out with a hamstring injury. Rana suffered the injury during the Nottingham T20I on July 7. He bowled his full four overs and faced 13 balls while batting, the most by any Indian batter in that match.

However, he missed the remaining two matches of the series due to the injury. After scans, it’s come out that Rana has suffered a Grade I hamstring injury and will report to the Centre of Excellence (CoE) in Bengaluru for his rehabilitation. Apart from him, Varun Chakaravarthy will also return to India and will miss the upcoming Zimbabwe tour.

“Rana reported a sudden onset of discomfort in his right hamstring during the third T20I against England at Trent Bridge. Subsequent scans revealed a Grade 1 hamstring injury. He has been ruled out of the forthcoming ODI series against England and will report to the BCCI Centre of Excellence (COE) for further assessment and management,” BCCI said.

Prince Yadav Replaces Injured Harshit Rana

Rana had only recently returned from a serious injury. Just before the 2026 T20 World Cup, he suffered a knee injury that needed surgery, forcing him to miss both the ICC tournament and the entire IPL 2026 season.

After playing just five matches following his comeback, he has now been ruled out again with another injury. Rana’s replacement, Prince, made his ODI debut last month against Afghanistan.

He showed moments of brilliance but got outshone by Gurnoor Brar. Prince made his T20I debut against Ireland, picking up 3 wickets, but his exploits against England weren’t that great. He now gets the opportunity to make a case for 50-over cricket as well.
