Anthony Hopkins, the revered Welsh actor, releases his single, ‘Bracken Road,’ at the age of 88. Achieving his lifelong dream of signing a record deal, the inspirational artist will launch his debut album. Some of these pieces have lived with me for decades, and I still find myself returning to them. My whole life is a dream. Signing with Decca is the honour of a lifetime,” the official statement from the Academy Award winner, published by record company Decca Classics, read, per The Guardian. The debut album of Anthony Hopkins is performed by the Grammy-winning conductor Gustavo Dudamel and the Philharmonia Orchestra, as well as the virtuoso soloists, cellist Gregorio Nieto and classical pianist Sergio Tiempo. “My deepest gratitude and respect go to maestro Gustavo Dudamel, whose artistry is an integral part of this musical journey,” he said.The released single ‘Bracken Road’ was composed by the actor in 1963 when he was a young actor at the Liverpool Playhouse. In another song, ‘My Fatherland,’ he honours Wales for humbling beginnings. “I am the son of my father, the baker,” he added. Furthermore, he visits his childhood memories of Port Talbot, recalling his grandfather and close friends.Hopkins started improvising on the piano at the age of 6 and eventually composed music for local plays as a teenager. Even during his acting career, he worked on his piano and continued his passion. Now, after all these years, ‘Life of A Dream’ was recorded in April and will be released on August 21, 2026.
