Representing Yorkshire, Pakistan pacer Hasan Ali is currently the highest wicket-taker in the Vitality Blast, having taken 27 wickets in total.
Hasan’s all-round bravado
Although his side has been eliminated from the tournament after losing the quarterfinal to Somerset, Hasan is very likely to end the league at the top of the charts.
That isn’t the only feat worth writing home about during his stint in England. The pacer was also pretty impactful with the bat. Being a tail-ender, one would not expect his average to be among the clouds, but for batters with at least fifty runs in the league, Hasan has the third-highest strike rate, a whopping 223.
With his brilliance, he has managed to form his fanbase in England with his debut Vitality Blast stint. Former England player David Lloyd was no different.
“I’ll tell you what, I’ve watched Hasan Ali. He is box office, that bloke. What a character. They are terrific signings, and the pair of them have had a real impact on Yorkshire cricket. Hasan, in particular, has become a crowd favourite. He even does mic drops with his bat,” Lloyd said.
Hasan’s bat drop
The bat-drop instance came against Derbyshire, when Hasan paired up with Andrew Tye to bring his side back to the game. The two players formed a 56-run stand off just 23 balls, of which Hasan scored 31 off 12. After hitting the winning run, he did a bat drop with the expressions as if he were seeking to freeze the hell over.
“I watched him win a game. He hits the winning runs, gets his bat and does a mic drop in the middle of the pitch. We need those sort of characters in the game because I think the days of those types of characters are almost gone.”
“You can count them on one hand these days. You watch him bowl, he gives it everything. You watch him in the field, he’s diving all over the show. Comes into bat and just wants to hit sixes.”
