UP Warriorz could make a few important changes to their squad before the WPL 2027 season. The team made several big moves at the 2026 mega auction, but the next season could require some changes in squad balance and player roles.
The WPL 2027 retention deadline is September 28, 2026, while the player auction will be held on October 28 in Kochi. The new season is scheduled from January 14 to February 7, 2027.
UP Warriorz currently have players such as Meg Lanning, Deepti Sharma, Sophie Ecclestone, Phoebe Litchfield, Shikha Pandey and Deandra Dottin in their squad.
1. Strengthen the Indian batting unit
UP Warriorz could look for more Indian batting options at the auction. The team has experienced players, but adding another reliable Indian batter could give them more flexibility in the playing XI. It would also help the franchise manage its overseas combination more easily.
Players such as Pratika Rawal, Harleen Deol and Kiran Navgire provide different batting options, but the team could still look for another consistent run-scorer.
2. Add more pace bowling options
Another area UP Warriorz could address is their pace attack. Shikha Pandey is one of the experienced Indian pace options in the squad, while Kranti Goud also provides a domestic bowling option. However, adding another Indian fast bowler could give the team better depth.
This would become especially useful if the team faces injuries or needs different bowling combinations during the season.
3. Find more consistency in the middle order
