About Rajiv Thakur

Rajiv Thakur is a comedian, actor, writer and performer who has built a career spanning television, live comedy and films. He began his comedy journey in Amritsar alongside Kapil Sharma and Chandan Prabhakar and went on to become a finalist on The Great Indian Laughter Challenge Season 3. He later became a familiar face on shows such as Comedy Circus and The Kapil Sharma Show.

Rajiv has also explored acting beyond comedy shows, including appearances in projects such as IC 814: The Kandahar Hijack.

One of the interesting phases of Rajiv’s career has been his return to stand-up comedy and open mics. In February 2025, he revealed that comedian Samay Raina encouraged him to return to stand-up and even pushed him towards performing at open mics. Thakur said he had started going for stand-up gigs every Saturday and was writing fresh material to connect with a younger, Gen Z audience. He also described the move as a return to his roots, pointing out that many television comedians, including those associated with Kapil Sharma, had begun their careers as stand-up performers.
