Pakistan to play a five-match ODI series in Bangladesh ahead of the 2027 World Cup- IPL

Pakistan to play a five-match ODI series in Bangladesh ahead of the 2027 World CupBangladesh will reportedly host Pakistan for a five-match ODI series ahead of the 2027 ODI World Cup in South Africa, Namibia, and Zimbabwe next year. While the series has not yet been confirmed by either of the two boards, a digital media report mentions a home assignment against Pakistan, among other touring countries.

Bangladesh to host Pakistan

The report revealed that the Bangladesh Cricket Board has invited bids for the television and digital media rights for home matches during the 2026 and 2027 calendar years, which also includes the five-match ODI series. The series would serve as preparation for the 50-over World Cup in October-November next year.

Bangladesh and Pakistan met in an ODI series earlier this year, which was won by the former 2-1 as they catch up with Pakistan in head-to-head records across formats.

Pakistan try to recover from Bangladesh whitewash

Bangladesh have also been a thorn in Pakistan’s side in Test cricket, having clean swept them in consecutive series. They defeated Pakistan 2-0 at home in 2024 and followed it up with a similar win in Bangladesh in May this year.

Pakistan are currently trying to shake off the damage of that series, as they slipped ninth on the World Test Championship table. They will face West Indies in a two-match Test series next, followed by a three-game red-ball tour of England. The two series will be their last, albeit unrealistic, push at giving them a chance of surviving in the WTC.
