TN CM Vijay’s ‘Jana Nayagan’ gets major modifications after online leak; maker confirms new theatrical version

Tamil Nadu CM Vijay’s much awaited film, ‘Jana Nayagan’ was about release in theatres in January this year, is now finally set to hit the big screens on July 23, after a long wait due to censorship issues. Recently, the makers have now confirmed that the film has gone through several changes.

Producer confirms new changes

In between the film’s now and earlier release date, back in April, the film also suffered a setback as the HD version of the film got leaked online. Now, producer Venkat K. Narayana confirmed that they have made modifications and audiences will see a different version of the film in theatres, in a conversation with NDTV.He said, “There are a lot of modifications and additions to Jana Nayagan. What the audience is going to experience in theatres will be very different, with additions of songs, some changes and everything. This movie has gone through many challenges since the beginning of the year to reach where it is today. I don’t want to give any spoilers.”

Alterations made after leak

It is also reported that the film was changed after some footage leaked online weeks before it received its censor certificate. While the makers have not revealed what has been changed, the producer confirmed that Vijay’s title card has also been updated.There are also reports that the team may release a new glimpse or trailer before the film reaches theatres. However, the makers have not officially confirmed this yet.

About ‘Jana Nayagan’

Directed by H Vinoth, the film shows the story of Thalapathy Vetri Kondan, a former official who adopts a young girl named Viji. He wants her to grow into a brave and independent woman. Even though she is afraid of violence, he encourages her to join the forces.

Cast of the film

The film also includes Pooja Hegde and Mamitha Baiju as the female lead and Bobby Deol as the main antagonist. It also features Gautham Vasudev Menon, Prakash Raj, Narain, Priyamani and Sunil in key roles.The film has received ‘A’ certificate from CBFC ahead of its theatrical release.
