Pakistan pacer Akif Javed has had a busy but fruitful summer in T20 leagues. After playing his maiden Vitality Blast for Derbyshire, where he grabbed 18 wickets in 12 games, including two four-wicket hauls, Javed made sure to make a similar mark in the Lanka Premier League (LPL).
Javed wraps a winning campaign with Gallants
Representing Galle Gallants, who went on to win the entire thing, Javed was a force to be reckoned with with the ball. In total, he took 15 wickets, the third-most in the league following Lizaad Williams (16) and fellow Galle Gallants pacer Eshan Malinga (17) at the top. Akif’s wickets included a 4/40 against Colombo Kaps when he ran through the lineup in just his second game.
He also recorded his worst T20 figures (including games in the league against Kandy Royals, where he conceded 66 runs in 3.5 overs.
