Pakistan’s bowling coach Ashley Noffke has decided to step down from his position with the PCB after accepting the head coach role with Netherlands. Noffke’s contract with Pakistan was to run until June 2027, having been roped in by the board in May 2025 as part of the coaching staff under white-ball coach Mike Hesson. Noffke was most recently called up by Pakistan to fill in as an interim bowling coach in red-ball cricket midway through the Test tour of England.
He will remain with the side for their Asian Games campaign, which begins September 28, after which he will link with the Dutch side, with whom his contract will run for two years, that is, until 2028.
“I’m looking forward to working with the Dutch men’s team, which has become a fixture at the T20 World Cups,” Noffke said in a release issued by the Netherlands board. “This is a talented, motivated group, and my goal is to help continue that development and move the programme forward. My approach starts with connection, before the tactic or the plan. I can’t wait to get started.”
Noffke becomes fourth Pakistan coaching staff departure in 2026
This is the fourth instance this year that a coaching staff member left Pakistan before their contract ended. Earlier, Pakistan’s fielding coach Shane McDermott resigned from his role to join Afghanistan cricket. This came after their long-standing physiotherapist Cliff Deacon and batting coach Hanif Malik parted ways with the side in May earlier this year.
Noffke will succeed Ryan Cook as Netherlands head coach. Cook left the role empty in June after the birth of his second child. After his departure, Heino Kuhn, who was the side’s batting coach under Cook, took up the role temporarily.
Pakistan face busy white-ball schedule
Pakistan will have to get the spot filled as quickly as they can, with the side set to play Sri Lanka and England in white-ball assignments, starting October 9. Pakistan will first host Sri Lanka for a three-game T20I series, following which the two teams will play an ODI tri-series including them and England.
