As Assam continues to battle one of its worst flood crises in recent years, actor Salman Khan has stepped forward to support those affected by the disaster. While busy shooting director Vamshi Paidipally’s upcoming untitled film in Mumbai, the superstar has reportedly been coordinating relief efforts with his fan club in Assam to ensure essential supplies reach the worst-hit regions.According to Mid-Day, a report states, “He connected with the Salman Khan Fan Club [SKFC] Assam and planned a phased process to aid the affected.”
Being Human begins first phase of assistance
Salman Khan’s charitable organisation, Being Human, has teamed up with the Salman Khan Fan Club (SKFC) Assam to kickstart the relief campaign. The first phase is focused on distributing ready-to-eat food packets to families in Sivasagar, with supplies being transported from Guwahati.Sharing details of the initiative, the report stated, “Each packet consists of biscuits, jaggery, poha, puffed rice, bread, cheese, and jam. Salman’s priority is to make sure families have enough food to last for at least three days until the situation improves.”Apart from food, volunteers are also supplying drinking water, water purification tablets, sanitary pads and mosquito coils to people living in flood-affected areas.
More support planned in the coming weeks
The relief campaign is expected to continue in multiple phases. The next stage, scheduled to begin next week, will focus on distributing ration kits and medicines to affected families.In the final phase of the initiative, Being Human plans to contribute towards rebuilding schools and hospitals that have suffered extensive damage due to the floods, helping communities recover in the long term.
Bhumi Pednekar joins relief efforts
Actor Bhumi Pednekar has also extended her support to the people of Assam by collaborating with the Bharat Disaster Relief Foundation (BDRF), which has been providing ration kits, hygiene essentials, drinking water and other relief materials in Sivasagar.The report revealed, “When Bhumi found out that BDRF was driving relief efforts in Assam, she partnered with the non-profit organisation.”
Musicians unite for fundraising campaign
The entertainment industry has also come together to raise funds for flood relief. On July 25, Assamese singer Papon joined Vishal Dadlani, Divya Kumar and Nilotpal Bora for a live Instagram charity concert, encouraging viewers to contribute towards ongoing relief operations. The floods have affected nearly 7 lakh people, prompting celebrities and humanitarian organisations to join hands in supporting rescue and rehabilitation efforts across the state.
