PSL 11: Charith Asalanka roped in by Lahore Qalandars as Emon’s replacementLahore Qalandars have signed Sri Lanka’s Charith Asalanka for the remainder of their campaign. 

Asalanka signed as Emon’s replacement

The signing comes after Parvez Hossain Emon was ruled out of the league following a ligament tear. Emon collided with Asif Ali on the field during Lahore’s game against Multan Sultans, which resulted in a tear, forcing him to fly back home for rehabilitation.

Asalanka, who had registered for PKR 22 million in the PSL auction, initially went unsold. He is not a regular in franchise cricket, having played only in the International League T20 (ILT20) and Lankan Premier League (LPL). 

Lahore in trouble

This will be his first time featuring in the PSL, where he will join his teammate Dunith Wellalage in Lahore Qalandars.

Lahore, who have three PSL trophies, are currently placed second to last in the points table, losing three out of their five games. They were embroiled in a ball tampering controversy, which saw their core player Fakhar Zaman banned for two games.
