West Indies captain Roston Chase has been green-signalled to lead the side in the upcoming two-Test series against Pakistan, set to begin on July 25. Chase picked up a laceration and contusion to his right index finger while playing the second Test against Sri Lanka earlier this month. The injury saw him miss out on the ODI series versus New Zealand, which his side lost 3-2.
West Indies have fielded nearly the same squad that faced Sri Lanka earlier this month, with a few changes largely due to injuries.
Joshua Bishop earns maiden call-up
West Indies have given a maiden call-up to spinner Joshua Bishop on the back of his brilliant domestic performances. In the last three West Indies Championship seasons, Joshua topped the wicket-takers’ chart, grabbing 91 wickets in total. He replaces Alzarri Joseph, who has been excused for personal reasons.
The home team have also called Kirk McKenzie back to the side for the first time since 2024. With six Tests under his belt, the left-handed batter has been included in place of John Campbell. Campbell picked up a left hamstring injury during the recently concluded ODI series against New Zealand.
Besides Campbell and Joseph, Anderson Phillip has also missed out on making the squad.
