Cricket has not been a regular sport at every edition of the Asian Games. Men’s cricket was first introduced at the 2010 Asian Games in Guangzhou, followed by the 2014 edition in Incheon. Cricket was not included in the 2018 Jakarta-Palembang Asian Games but returned at the 2023 Hangzhou Games and continued at the 2026 Aichi-Nagoya edition.
India are now the most successful men’s cricket team in Asian Games history with two gold medals. India won their first gold medal in 2023 after defeating Afghanistan in the final and retained the title in 2026 by beating Pakistan by 19 runs. Bangladesh and Sri Lanka have each won one men’s cricket gold medal, while Afghanistan have finished runners-up three times.
